Director’s Report:
Monthly Intake for February (29) and March (29). Complainants consisted of concerns for housing, employment, legal requests, and program information. Member questions concerning intake.
Monthly Budget: Members please see monthly activity report attached.
2006-2007 Budget: Members please see work sheets.
Members discuss current and upcoming budget.
Juneteenth Day 2006: Planning ongoing. We have a letter of commitment with BSL of Rochester. Confirmed: The program is scheduled for Thursday, June 15 from 1-3 pm at the Booker T. Washington Community Center. Confirmations also sent to BTW. Awaiting confirmation from Wegmans as reception sponsor. Promotional announcements and media work are ready for distribution. More details to follow as the program date nears.
Members discuss preliminary planning of program and presenter fee.
Women’s History Month: March program completed at Herman Elementary School. HR in conjunction with Aunt Helen’s Closet provided a multi-cultural learning experience to first and second grade classes. Good feedback - Program well-received.
Discussion.
Women’s Fund of Central New York Grant Application 2006 – completed. Requested funds for Women’s History Month Program 2007 with AHC presentation at five elementary schools within the Auburn Enlarged School District (Herman, Seward, Casey, Owasco, Genesee). Anticipated number of students reached daily = 200 x 5 days = 1000 audience from grades 2 & 3. Program promotes multi-cultural awareness, positive character traits, and higher self esteem in both girls and boys. Amount requested: $225/presentation + $160 round-trip mileage via Albany, NY = $2410 total amount requested.
Members discuss grant efforts and what it means to current funding.
Black History Month (Recap): Completed. Well attended by schools and public with good press coverage. Nearly 400 students participated this year.
HR Scholarship Fundraiser: Mailer – ongoing. Student applications arriving daily via Auburn High School. Members discuss upcoming deadline and when they will beging the decision making process.
Advertising Campaign/Public Awareness: ongoing. Members see tear sheets.
Members noted ad in new publication of The Citizen and how it raises awareness.
Annual Report: Ongoing. Awaiting legal stats.

New Business: Girls Scouts-Seven Lake Council requests to present an in-service at the Human Rights Commission Meeting in May. They are instructed to mail a letter of intent, describing the nature of business as it relates to human rights issues.
Members, please see letter. Members discuss and agree to the in-service, providing it is connective to our mission. Members also discuss joint fund raising possibilities. GSSLC states they cannot do joint fund raising with other organizations.
